EGRET+ Trainingsworkshop 7: Turku (FI, Mid 2019)

“Training Workshop 7”

To welcome everyone in Turku, a riverside walk was organised (optional) from the Cathedral to the s/s Bore (the accommodation during the workshop). Just before dinner, the JRB meeting was held. During the first full day’s morning, 21 ESRs presented their latest research progress. After lunch, there was a talk by invited speaker Prof. Mikko Hupa, former rector of the Abo Akademi University of Turku, on the research and innovation of the university. In the afternoon, Prof. Frans Cornelissen gave two lectures as part of the Skill Module Grant Writing ll, followed by the SB meeting. On the second day, 14 ESRs presented the latest progress of their projects, which was followed by a talk by invited speaker Prof. Kai Kaarniranta, from the University of Eastern Finland in Kuopio, on personalised medicine in Macular Degeneration. In the afternoon, we visited the premises of our beneficiary Ocusweep Oy / Mariachi Oy, followed by a social program at Villa Wolax including several outdoor activities. On the third day, we got on board of the m/s Amorella to take the 24h Stockholm cruise. During this cruise, the Skill Module Business Start-up ll which included a talk by Markku Leinonen (OCU) and course on business modelling (Part 2) by Nadine Schmieder-Galfe (EG). The workshop ended upon arrival back in Turku, Finland.
